Pickups: February 2016

Oh february, what have you done to me?! I kinda went overboard again on the expenses. Nothing to get worried about, so much is true. It’s just that I planned to take it a bit slower from now on and as the month progressed, well… you’ll see in a bit πŸ™‚

To start off, I got tipped by some fellow collectors that the Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom fighting stick was for sale on a retail website for only 30-ish Euro’s, brand spanking new! Being an arcade stick afficionado and not owning any sticks for the Wii already, I just couldn’t resist! During the same period I also added Rez on PS2 through ebay and The Beatles Rockband for ps3. I really need to try out my rockband set in the near future, as it’s all set up to play, thus only gathering dust at the moment.

I also stopped by in a “not so local” toy store without any specific buying plans. It all changed when I bumped head on into the Lego Dimensions shelves. I wanted to buy this from the day it was released but always postponed it because I thought €99 for the starter pack was way too much. I still do actually, but I bought it anyway. And to make things worse, I couldn’t resist picking up The Simpsons level pack for it too πŸ™‚

I had some days off from work around the third week of the month. Typically, I always visit some second hand stores when I’ve got some time to kill. I was glad I did, because I was able to add SCAR, Kya: Dark Lineage, Ford Racing 3 and Big Mutha Truckers on ps2. I guess you could safely say I’ve got a soft spot for all sorts of racing games.
I also grabbed Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12 on the Wii as I was told this game could be a future rare one. Same goes for the One Piece Double Pack on ps3. I had both games individually on my wish list already, so I just had to buy this compilation disk. To end this picture off, Shadow Warrior on PS4 and the PS-Move docking stationΒ  are online deals that finally arrived by mail.

When I go out to buy groceries, I always have a quick walk through the gaming isles. You never know when a good deal might hit and a good deal this was. I found a stack of 5 playstation TV consoles for €30 each. I bought one for myself and after posting it in a facebook collectors group, I went back and bought the four other ones and sold them off at retail price to some fellow collectors who wanted one too πŸ™‚
The 6 games on the same picture are all Japanese games and came off ebay. I was very thrilled to get Ikki Tousen: Eloquent Fist on the PSP. Same goes with Battle Pinball for the Super Famicom. If you didn’t know already, I’m a sucker for pinball tables and games.
The upper right ps2 game is Shinseiki GPX Cyber Formula: Road to the Infinity 4, a pretty cool racing game. The bottom row consists out of Gradius Deluxe Pack on ps1, Virtua Cop 2 on the Dreamcast and Super Darius for the pc engine CD.

Some more random ps2 stuff I’ve added. Nothing shocking to be honest. Wait a minute, I’m lying, the Search & Destroy game really is shockingly bad! I was aware of it before I picked it up but hey, it was complete and priced very low so why not? I’m still playing with the idea of going for a full pal ps2 set so why pass on this? πŸ™‚
I also bought Xtreme Speed, Spring Car Challenge, Victorious Boxers 2 and Myth Makers: Trixie in Toy Land on ps2.
I also grabbed Happy Feet 2 in the same store. Why? Well I told myself it would be a good game for my daughter, she’s very fond of Penguins already (and dad’ll score that easy platinum trophy in the meanwhile) πŸ™‚

Some more stuff I found online. I Was glad to delete Rumble Roses and Rygar from my ps2 wish list. Same goes with Injustice and LittleBigPlanet 3. The same seller also sold Pure Pool for a very low price so I couldn’t help adding it to the lot.
On the bottom row, we’ve got three ps3 games I already owned. But as these all came with extra ingame content my original copy’s didn’t have, I just bought them anyway. I’ll be keeping the regular release and the special editions for now, as I also would like to own a complete PAL ps3 set some day…

Meanwhile, my wife got hooked on Lego Dimensions! She asked me to bring home a new level pack, so I did. She also ‘needed’ a LotR figure in the game to complete a specific action, so I fixed her up real good πŸ™‚
I also met up with a fellow collector who’s aiming for a full ps2 set. We traded some ps2 games. I was really happy to get Dark Alliance II. He also picked up some psp games for me months ago. Again, nothing special but shelve fillers are always welcome if the price is right.

At the end of the month, I visited another fellow collector in Antwerp. He still had a pile of games I asked to keep aside for me. I’ll be trying out Garou: Mark of the Wolves and Bakumatsu Rouman Dai Ni Maku: Gekka No Kenshi Final Edition on the Sega Dreamcast really soon. It’s an awesome opportunity to give my Dreamcast arcade stick some TLC πŸ˜‰
The ps2 games are Simple 2000 Series Vol. 31: The Chikyuu Boueigun I &Β  II, also known as the Earth Defense Force series in Europe.
The first time soon the Sega Saturn gets fired up, Soukyugurentai will be the game I’ll be playing first! I heard some good things about this little shmup.
